The AFA: The Afraid Family Association

In all its Christ like wisdom, the AFA (American Family Association) has decided to boycott McDonald's.

Yes, the home of Ronald McDonald and the happy meal is no longer fit for family consumption. Why?

AFA: "McDonald's has chosen not to remain neutral but give the full weight of their corporation to promoting the homosexual agenda including homosexual marriage."

According to the web site the boycott is NOT about:

The hiring of homosexuals.
Homosexuals eating at McDonald's.
Or how homosexual employees are treated.

Whew. I wouldn't want to think it had anything to do with hate or discrimination.

Why all the fuss?

Apparently McDonald's ran an ad in San Francisco in support of Gay Pride in 2007.

Here are some of the comments from the boycott site itself:

  • "I do not believe that supporting diversity includes deviate sexual behavior, what deviation will you support next? pedophilia? incest? Where does it stop??"
  • "I've been eating at McDonald's since I was a teen. Fries are the best! And the breakfasts can't be beaten for the price. Now that I'm a verifiable senior citizen, I've grown to consider their coffee the best around, including Starbucks. While I'm not usually a boycott-prone person (although Ford got some of my abstinence and Honda benefitted), I will forego my DAILY morning coffee and breakfast and switch to Del Taco, or Carl's or some mom and pop until Mickey D's withdraws their support toward a group of people who are bent on destroying God's definition of marriage and family. Love the sinner; hate the sin. While McDonald's is free to support whomever they choose, so am I free not to eat at their restaurants. McDonald's, wake up before you suffer Ford's sales decline!"
  • "I am informing all my children and grand children to BOYCOTT McDONALDS. That is a total of 22 people from my family."

This is the same group that boycotted Ford for two years because of its support of the pedophilia prone homosexual lifestyle. And we wonder why gay teens kill themselves.

In the wrong hands, the bible becomes some warped manifesto of hate that the professed morally superior cling to as they haphazardly stiletto their way through the teachings of Jesus.

The what would Jesus do scenario never applies. Or maybe Jesus would reprogram homosexuals to be ex gays through doctrine, rituals and discipline or so supports the AFA.

Oh, they'll make their usual pleas of reason with the "hate the sin, love the sinner" refrain, but let's be clear - there is no love, no light, no understanding.

When a group consciously makes the decision to boycott a corporation simply due to its all inclusive policies, the skin in which each member lives cannot be comfy. Hate does not promote peace even when its backed by zealot interpretations.

And Jesus would say that's punishment enough.

You can boycott the AFA here.

Goes to show you ... so called 'christians' out there use the bible to beat the crap out of whomever they decide is on their list. Makes me ill. They're such jerk offs.

Let me rephrase ... my last entry sounded so angry. Well, that's because I am, I guess. I have a problem with anyone who uses the good book or their spirituality or their religion to persecute others. I've never had a problem with Jesus. I believe he was more than likely an ascended master. But what has been done, historically, in his name ... people should be ashamed. He was called the prince of peace for heaven's sake!

I think anger is appropriate Donna. Of course it won't solve anything, but if I had your lovely family and someone who claimed to be a moral authority deemed it deviant, I'd be pissed as all hell.

And people wonder why I decided to become a pagan?

I'm so sick of people using a BOOK that was mostly written over 2,000 years ago and heavily edited by MEN (not God, sorry to disappoint you, folks) over the years to bash a group of people.

I'm heterosexual and happily married, but I think it's so wrong to discriminate against a section of our citizens because of their lifestyle. If they're over 18 and everyone's consenting, leave us alone! What some of these morons don't understand is if we give government the power to interfere with the lives of same-sex couples, we're opening the door for them to interfere with heterosexual couples too!

If the laws prevented blacks and whites from marrying (as they used to), or people with disabilities from marrying, then people would be outraged.

I'm sick of our government creating legitimized discrimination. It's sickening in a country that's supposed to be one of the world's most advanced.

No wonder the world hates us.

Frankly, I don't have time or energy to worry what goes on in someone else's bedroom. These people who work their heinies off to pass gay marriage bans must either be lifeless losers without anything better to do, or they have a sick fascination they don't want to admit.

Government, stay out of my wallet and my bedroom. Period. The only laws about marriage should be that 1) it's consensual, 2) the person is over 18 (unless they petition a judge because of special circumstances).

That's IT. It shouldn't matter if it's a man and a woman, or two men or two women, or even if the people are polyamorous. Frankly, I don't care! Quit wasting our money on violating the civil rights of our citizens!

Whew. Sorry, had to rant that out. It just really irks me that people use religion as a shield to hide their bigotry behind.

No problem, Sue. And by goddess, no friggin right wing whacko will make ME give up my McD's large caramel iced coffee, either! Ha! *LOL* They can have it when they pry it from my COLD, DEAD HANDS! (*cue evil muwahahaha laugh*)

Like I said, I'm straight, but frankly I don't understand the rabid desire of some of these religious fundamentalists to go after those who aren't. Who cares? The only adult I have reason to care about in that regard is the man I'm actually married to. *LOL*

Even with the polygamists in the news lately, my only problems with them were the reports of abuse and forced marriages. If it wasn't for that, who cares? Live and let live.

I'm in FL and wish we could overturn our stupid laws. It would be a HUGE boon to our economy, to become a destination state for same-sex weddings.

Did you know in FL it's ILLEGAL to cohabitate together if you're not married? That means there are countless STRAIGHT people out there violating state law who aren't being prosecuted for it. Yet some of those same people will try to deny same sex couples basic rights and point to state law to back them up.

Uh, pot, meet kettle. Kettle, this is pot.

      Unbelievable.

Sorry for ranting again. I've only had one cuppa joe this morning and my shoulder hurts like a...well, it hurts. *LOL* And it's Monday, so I'm in a mood.
