The Christian Action League & The N.C. Family Policy Council: Don't Bully Our Kids Unless They're Gay

As if North Carolina needed more bad headlines, an anti bullying bill has petered out because of the inclusion of sexual orientation as a reason a kid might be targeted. In my high school, it was damn near the only reason and now even when a state tries to do right by children they muck it up by leaving out the most terrorized group of all?

Let me ask again:

What the hell is wrong with us?

The Christian Action League is abusing its mailing list by asking its constituents to oppose such a law.

And not to be outdone The North Carolina Family Policy Council has publicly labeled the bill a sham and just another way for the homosexual agenda to be promoted.

Are you serious?

Kids are killing gay kids if the gay kids aren't killing themselves first, mostly because the adults in our world are teaching them how to view each other. Well done, North Carolina. I hope nobody has to bury a son or daughter because of your blatant bigotry and moral cowardice.

Here's Bill 1366:

“Bullying or harassing behavior includes, but is not limited to, acts reasonably perceived as being motivated by any actual or perceived characteristic, such as race, color, religion, ancestry, national origin, gender, socio-economic status, academic status, masculinity, femininity, physical appearance, sexual orientation, or mental, physical, developmental or sensory disability, or by association with a person who has or is perceived to have one or more of these characteristics.”
