Camping for Queers - Not in My Backyard

Before the mud dries from me slinging it across North Carolina yesterday, perhaps I should take a look in my own backyard.

It seems as though a group called Pride Revolutions was given the boot from a camping site over the weekend right here where I live in Kansas City, Missouri.

The park rangers claim the eviction had nothing to do with sexual orientation, but rather multiple park violations like drinking and dogs not on a leash sort of thing.

The gay group says only one member broke the rules, but all were asked to leave because of complaints from the other campers. A spokesperson stated they were harassed from the moment their tents were pitched.

I know Longview Lake fairly well and P-Town it is not.

In defense of Jackson County, it was the first local government in Missouri to issue domestic partner registry and offer benefits. It can't control its conservative camping constituency and they are looking into the way the matter was handled.

S'mores anyone?

They are also taking measures to make it very clear that all campers are welcome so the homophobes ...
