Coming Out 101 Blog: Jon Qwelane and the Horse He Rode In On
Jon Qwelane and the Horse He Rode In On
Perhaps I owe an apology to Renee Juliene
Karunungan for my blog article that blasted her remarkable ignorance.
Well, Jon Qwelane has lumbered in and set the bias bar much higher for all wannabe bigoted journalists.
In a South African newspaper, Mr. Qwelane wrote that he could find many things to disagree with the Zimbabwean president Robert Mugabe, but his "unflinching and unapologetic stance over homosexuals is definitely not among those." He prays that his government has "the balls" to overturn the bit in their constitution that allows gay marriage.
Mr. Qwelane wondered in print what may be next. We now pronounce you man and goat? Seriously, he had a cartoon depicting a man and beast exchanging vows. This is a grown man's concerns about gay marriage. Using such logic, I suppose we could then assume that taking a bath will lead to more river drownings.
The Cape Town gay community is calling for a retraction and apology.
