National Coming Out Day
As this summer winds down, we are fast approaching National Coming Out Day which is held to commemorate the first organized gay march on Washington.
I love the idea of having a certain time of the year that recognizes the importance of living authentically, but it still strikes me as odd to think of a group en mass coming out because of a date on a calendar (October 11th).
If it urges anyone to be true to themselves who is ready - fantastic. If it urges anyone to come out prematurely - not so fantastic.
What may be good for one is not necessarily good for all and I won't even get into the slippery slope the HRC has found itself recently with some backtracking doublespeak.
If you're ready to have your insides match what you project externally, come out and if you're not, stay in. Either way for today, it's okay. Sometimes the best life altering decision one can make is to decide not to make a life altering decision at this moment.
You're welcome here regardless.
