Matthew Shepard: Ten Years On
It's been ten years since Matthew Shepard was left to die on a fence post in Laramie, Wyoming. The savagery shocked the majority, but only further confirmed to the gay community the utter length of the path to equality and tolerance.
A lot has changed in this Wyoming college town since Matthew's death from holding an annual symposium on tolerance to an LGBTQ resource center on campus. And on Saturday the University of Wyoming unveiled a memorial bench simply inscribed:
"Matthew Wayne Shepard Dec. 1, 1976-Oct. 12, 1998. Beloved son, brother, and friend. He continues to make a difference. Peace be with him and all who sit here."
Amen.

I reported the meth-high gay-bashing activities of Aaron Mckinney and Russell Henderson in an attempted drug-dealer ordered "Gay-bashing Narc-hating Hit" on me and my son in 1996 in Encampment, Wyoming. (It's like the movie "Deliverance" in this small town.) They could have been stopped then. Why weren't they? Because I have a dietary aliment called Celiac's Disease, which, when symptomatic, can make one look "Retarded?" Or even "Perverse?" "Unbelievable?" Why weren't the facts checked out at all and I presented but with pure ridicule by Wyoming "Mental Health" Social and Law Enforcement Agencies especially?
